YouAct’s training programme “Pass the Mic! Tim YouAct’s training programme “Pass the Mic! Time to give underrepresented SRHR topics the limelight!” has gathered young people from across Europe with different perspectives, perceptions, and knowledge to lead the discussion on key underrepresented SRHR topics during four interactive webinars.

To share our perspectives and knowledge with those who did not attend the training, YouAct produced a comprehensive modules kit, to pass on the microphone to those who would like to use our publication as a resource to advocate for underrepresented SRHR topics in Europe and beyond!

Harmful practices are a violation of human rights.

3 examples of harmful practices:
🔸 Intersex genital mutilation
🔸 Honour killings

This week's training session with YouAct will disc This week's training session with YouAct will discuss the theme decolonising SRHR. Decolonisation seeks to make visible and address how the effects of colonisation have shaped the way the world and knowledge is portrayed. Addressing the harmful history of colonisation and SRHR, such as eugenics, forced sterilisation, modern gynecology, sheds light on different barriers that still are present today and affect marginalised communities' access to srh services and rights.

What can we do to reconstruct knowledge?
❗️We can confront biases based on colonial history
❗️We can learn from activists from low-income countries
❗️We can reflect over our language and terminology

This week, YouAct will host the second session of This week, YouAct will host the second session of our SRHR training programme #Passthemic! with the theme Disabilities & SRHR. Disability is an umbrella term including participatory restrictions, impairments and limitations in activity. Youth with disabilities face several barriers to access their sexual and reproductive health and rights - the lack of availability and accessibility for SRH services, accessibility to comprehensive sexual education and acceptability in society. Young people with disabilities are also at more risk for sexual abuse, STDs, unwanted pregnancies and trafficking.
