On the 27th of April, the Netherlands celebrated the King’s Day – a day when everybody is on the streets, as orange and joyful as possible. Cities turn into flea markets and every corner there’s a party, a concert, a drink, a lot of people.

We, of course, couldn’t miss the opportunity, so we gathered our ideas for a stand in the flea market and we met in the Hague. Preparations were serious, and we ended up selling do-it-yourself cupcakes, candy jars for (You)Acts of kindness, mango flavored condoms, second-hand items, Polaroid photos and our talent – face-painting for kids. The condoms were sponsored by the Condomerie.

The event was possible with the warm welcoming of Rhode, our current Resource Mobilization Officer, who lives in the city and knew all the tips and tricks for the market. Ana, the YouAct coordinator and Anamaria, the YouAct Secretary joined, as well as Lewis from CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality and Michiel from the Youth Coalition for Sexual and Reproductive Rights. We want to especially thank our partners, as without their involvement the day wouldn’t have been the same. You rock guys!

The event was a success, as we managed to raise € 261,27 for YouAct, got to know each other better and spend quality time together, to network with our partners, to experience a different culture and a special day for people living in the Netherlands and last but not least, to have lots of fun and sun!

We are still in need of support to continue our work, empower young people and defend youth sexual and reproductive rights in Europe – and YOU can help us by donating at:
